It is not really an ideal way and would like a more elegant solution. So far I am able to setup most of the things I want except for the keyboard and display backlight, I am aware that I can adjust these things in the files located in /sys/class/leds/smc::kbd_backlight. I have installed EOS (i3-wm) on my macbook pro 8,1 early 2011 and been playing around with it for some weeks, I am really enjoying the whole window manager aspect of it. I added 10 spaces, as standard i3.New to the forum and to the linux world in general. Need to manually add spaces (desktops) at first. U/tom1018 has shared great config files for Yabai and widget / status bar below! I dearly miss the ability to stack windows in i3wm, according to Yabai's creator koekeishiya it is not trivial to build that feature in macOS. Y abai (chunkwm's successor) as the tiling windows manager, skhd to run Yabai commands with shortcuts. Thanks to all the suggestions, here are some of my current configurations. On macOS what's the best way to rebind command, control, alt, etc. I use the "windows logo" key as the modifier for i3. What are some window managers on macOS that allows for a setup as close as possible to i3? So I'm looking to make the shortcuts and tiling behaviors on both systems as identical as possible.

I got so used to using i3 and it is annoying - to say the least - having to maintain muscle memories for both. Because of work I use a macbook in addition to my Linux machine.
